- Go by the home at different times of the day.
- Talk to the neighbors and ask how they feel about the area.
- Drive around and check out the overall condition of the homes and community.
- Google the property address and see what comes up.
- Amenities
- Tour the community amenities.
- Drive around the surrounding area to see what’s around: grocery stores, department stores, etc.
- Crime reports
- Use a crime mapping website.
- Check the national sex offender site.
- Speak to the local police department.
- Read the seller’s disclosures thoroughly. Ask questions as needed.
- Check out the Home Association. If you are planning on having something installed outside the home, check with the HOA first.
